Vanilla Chiffon with Buttercream Recipe

Ingredients: (yields 2 cakes)

Set 1:

  • 2 ¼ cups cake flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt

Set 2:

  • 8 pcs eggyolks
  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Set 3:

  • 8 pcs egg whites
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar

Set 4:

  • ½ cup sugar

Buttercream:

  • 4 pcs egg whites
  • 1 bar butter
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Procedure:

  1. Sift together Set 1
  2. Beat the eggyolks in set 2 then GRADUALLY add the set 1.1, then add the remaining ingredients of Set 2, then add the Set 1 mixture.  This is the eggyolk mixture, set aside.
  3. Beat Set 3 GRADUALLY adding Set 4 until medium stiff peak forms
  4. Fold in with the eggyolk mixture carefully
  5. Pour onto greased and dusted round pans
  6. Bake in 350F for 10-15 minutes
  7. BUTTERCREAM:  Cream butter and sugar until sugar is dissolved then add vanilla, add beaten egg whites GRADUALLY until smooth.  Spread on the cooled cake and decorate.
  8. (Optional) Top with M&Ms
