Victory kick-off 2015 with “Honor God” series. What an awesome way to begin a new year, start the year right, to Honor God, which is our ultimate purpose! To honor God, means to give highest value on God than anything or anyone else. The series reminds us “to honor God with our life in everything we do.” I’ll be sharing my personal reflections on this series for the next few weeks!
To start it right, let’s begin with our heart, Let’s desire to Honor God with our Heart!
I believe you and I need a heart check! We need to reflect and seek God, why we’re doing what we’re doing. As for me, I realized most of the time I think ‘ I’m honoring God, but there are (lot of) times I’m not! Aside from doing bad things, I can also dishonor God while I’m serving my family, doing good to others, being there for your friends, attending service, being a volunteer, leading and joining a small group, all these are good things (don’t get me wrong), but I have to ask myself why I’m doing all these things? In the midst of all this, I felt so tired, drained and exhausted. I feel like giving up and just wanted to stop. Little did I know that it’s God’s way of reminding me that it’s not about me, it’s never about me, it’s about Him, everything is about Him. I realized I’m relying on my own strength and not on the grace of God. I felt I’m better than others, nagmamaganda lang ang peg, or sometimes feel that I don’t deserve this kind of treatment I deserve more (pa-VIP ang lola) or maybe feeling ko deserve na deserve ko ang blessing, tapos pag hindi nya binigay feeling ko God owes me something because I do this & I do that.. I’m even telling God in my prayer I’m better than someone else, so deserve na deserve ko na i-bless ako ni God! #Self-righteous, yan ang peg! Heart issues? (check na check). I knew that I need to guard my heart by continuously abiding in Him, and the only way to abide is to be grateful, pray and study His Word everyday. With this daily habit, God will daily reminds us to Honor Him for real and He will come for us! John 15:4 says “If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
Honoring God, means we’re doing all these things for God, we are overwhelmed with the love and faithfulness of God to us.
This 2015, I will honor God with my heart, He is the God of seeing anyways, He knows what’s inside our hearts.
