Night of December 1, 2016, my husband and I started another Christmas tradition – the “Advent Wreath.” Thank God for our church pastors & their families, who shared the importance of having family Christmas traditions. For reminding us to focus on the true meaning of Christmas, that is to celebrate Jesus! Ptr. Ariel Marquez, shared that “Christmas is about Jesus, He is the reason for this season, His presence is more importnat than the present.”
Last night, my husband and I lit up the Candle of Hope! My husband read chapter 1 of John. It reminds us on the real meaning of Advent, from the Latin word adventus meaning arrival. The Bible says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
Jesus is our only HOPE.
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11He came to his own,b and his own peoplec did not receive him. 12But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (John 1:10-13)
But sadly, many of us prefer to stay in darkness, we deny Jesus, we reject His offer of Hope. We put our hope in other people, in material things, in career, in money and maybe in power. We place our security in all these things, that will surely not satisfy us, because the Truth is only Jesus can satisfy us, He can give us full joy and hope. “And again, Isaiah says, ‘The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the Gentiles will hope in him.’ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:12-13
Jesus becomes our hope more and more, as He revealed more of himself to us this 2016, He’s been our….
(Jenice) The Promise-Giver
This 2016, the Lord gave me a lot of promises through the Bible. I posted most of these in my IG (@jenicejoy). I love God’s promises, as I hold on to His promises, it keeps me going. But more than the promises, it is who God is, who really keeps me going, we have a promise keeping God, a faithful and loving God!
(Mark) The Comforter
My husband shared that Jesus has been his comforter as he enter marriage with me. I never knew that he’s anxious and worried… Because my husband has been strong for me, everytime I cried, in those days that I’m loosing hope and having doubts. He encouraged me and prayed for me. Little did I know, that he’s been crying out to God. And God immediatley comforted him through His Word. My husband said, he always feel better & relief, after he prays! The Lord has been his ultimate comforter!
How about you, how did Jesus reveals himself to you this 2016?
