God Has a Plan for Your Life

Queen Esther is one of my favorite women in the Bible. From reading the book, I just can’t imagine how fair and beautiful she is. Plus all the spa treatments, oil and perfume given to her, ahh beautiful! No doubt, King Xerxes choses her and fall in love with her. Not just because she’s lovely but her character stands out among all the ladies presented to the King.

I’m also amazed of God’s plan for Esther. Though she grew up without a parent, God bless her with a godly man (her cousin) Mordecai who guide her growing up. From an ordinary orphan Jewish girl to a Queen! Can you see how God plans our life? It’s always bigger, greater than what can we think for ourselves… “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare[a] and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

What God has in store for us in the future will always be bigger of what we knew is best for us, God has always something better that we don’t know. As Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” Because what we plan for ourselves will always have limitations based on what we are now, what we accomplished so far and possibly how we see ourselves in the future, it’s always limited and sometimes selfish. But God, will always have bigger plans, bigger than ourselves. He is unlimited God, He is sovereign, He is able, He can do everything, there’s nothing impossible with Him, and the good news is, He is also a loving Father, He loves us “big time” that He wants only the best for His children, only the best life ahead for each of us! A life that brings glory and honor to Him.

God made Esther to be a queen, not just to enjoy the benefits of being a queen. This is not how the story ends… We see how God used Esther, to save the Jews from the evil plan of Haman to kill all the Jews. Why? Because the Savior would be born in Betlehem from a Jewish family, the Savior who will save the world and His name is Jesus. Esther’s obedience and selflessness plays a vital role in God’s plan for salvation to mankind. Gods plan for Esther is more than to satisfy her desires and dreams, it is bigger than her, it is salvation for everyone, and everything is plotted for His glory! So are you excited to embrace God’s plan in your life? Obey like a queen!

Just Let it Go

Repost from TD Jakes

This is a powerful message by TD Jakes. This message moves me, and I pray you’ll learn something from this too!

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.

The bible said that, “They came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us.” [1 John 2:19] People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can’t make them stay. Let them go. And it doesn’t mean that they are a bad person, it just means that their part in the story is over. And you’ve got to know when people’s part in your story is over so that you don’t keep trying to raise the dead. You’ve got to know when it’s dead. You’ve got to know when it’s over. Let me tell you something. I’ve got the gift of good-bye. It’s the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It’s not that I’m hateful, it’s that I’m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He’ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don’t need it. Stop begging people to stay. Let them go!! If you are holding on to something that doesn’t belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to…LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to past hurts and pains… LET IT GO!!! If someone can’t treat you right, love you back, and see your worth… LET IT GO!!! If someone has angered you … LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge…. LET IT GO!!! If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction … LET IT GO!!! If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or talents .. LET IT GO!!! If you have a bad attitude… LET IT GO!!! If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better… LET IT GO!!! If you’re stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level in Him… LET IT GO!!! If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship…. LET IT GO!!! If you keep trying to help someone who won’t even try to help themselves.. LET IT GO!!! If you’re feeling depressed and stressed … LET IT GO!!! If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying “take your hands off of it,” then you need to… LET IT GO!!! Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing!!! LET IT GO!!! Get Right or Get Left .. think about it, and then LET IT GO!!!

My Journey in Pursuing Higher Education

April 19, 2013 is one of the momentous events in my life. Finally, I wear this black & orange toga, (underneath is an off-white Forever 21 dress) and attended graduation rites together with 1,008 graduates of University of the Philippines Manila in PICC. Though I know I already completed my master’s degree last October, still it was wonderful feeling to march and to be recognized that finally after four semesters of joggling studies and work responsibilities, we made it. We completed the 36 units of management courses and surpassed all the challenges of being a working student.

Completing my master’s degree is not just pursuing higher education. It is saying “Yes” to God’s plan and fulfilling His destiny for me. Sounds weird though, but it is… Really… I realized that if God puts a dream into our hearts, He will satisfy it no matter what and how. When I was in high school I dream to go to UP for college, I guess it’s every competitive students dreamed of. But unfortunately I didn’t make it. So I went to PUP instead and forget about my UP dream. Who would have thought that after 10 years, I’ll be “Iskolar ng Bayan” again, this time from the Philippines’ premier institution of higher learning, University of the Philippines Manila.

It is very challenging, but God’s grace sustained me all throughout my two years journey of being a working student. It’s tough to excel both at work and academics, but during these two years, God made everything awesome! 3 out 4 semesters I was recognized as University and College Scholar and completed the course with GWA 1.29. That was a way higher grade when I was in college. I thank God for favor, for the wisdom and strength, for empowering me. Truly, Gods power at work can bring beyond normal breakthroughs in our lives.

Stretching your patience, hard work, knowing your priorities, discipline, balance life, valuing your network, learning humbly, maximizing resources and a dozen of prayers, value of education and love for our country, these are life lessons I’ve learned from this 2 years journey.

I also thank my nanay and my sister who never get tired of supporting me, (aside from allowing me to be excused from household chores). To my Tatay, who will always be my source of motivation and inspiration (coz he is y number one fan). To my ex-boss, Jayson for approving and encouraging me to pursue masters, for Vidal for being so understanding and allowing me to leave early and approving my vacation leaves. To Monsanto, who values higher education and have it in my DPR (and paid half of my tuition fees). To Ate Julie, who never get tired of assisting us in terms of schedules, requirements and administrative stuff. For my professors who share their expertise and life learned lessons to us, for my classmates who share same aspirations and burdens and who eventually became my friends. And finally to UP Manila, for sharing with me the UP brand “Iskolar ng Bayan” and for empowering me to value education and who stirs my heart to do something for our nation. Go Fight!

Work & Life in Monsanto

May 15 2007, this is my first day at work in Monsanto, a multinational biotech agricultural firm. Having a consumer and NGO background, Monsanto, BT corn, herbicides, agriculture is a bit strange for me. The first thing I did when Evalou called me up for interview is to search the company in Fortune 500 listed companies, and there you go, Monsanto ranks 323 while Kimberly Clark ranks 137. It is a tough decision, but since I will be based in Alabang and they offered better compensation and benefits package, I accepted the job offer as Sales Support Officer.

My few weeks of on-boarding was really exciting, it was my first time to meet a real “scientist” and colleagues with Doctorate degree who are successful in their field yet maintains a low profile. I admire this kind of leaders and I found out that these is normal for people in agriculture industry. Doc Arnold, Doc Gab, Sir Dodong, Doc Vic, Sir Nonong to name a few.

Then after few months, I have the opportunity to meet my internal customers during Value Selling Workshop in Phinma, Tagaytay and Technical orientation in Gensan. They are the sales team from Luzon and Mindanao… I was hired by Adi, to support this team and it was good to know I will have colleagues of my age and lifestyle levels whom I can relate with. The Sales Team from Luzon and Mindanao are cool, funny, hip and like me, they are all very eager to learn and are truly dedicated in their job. I feel that all of them are having  a great time in Monsanto. Image

After 2 years, a new team was formed… The Customer Operations. Finally, I’m no longer adopted by Commercial Sales, this time I belong in a team. Customer Ops was lead by Erwin and Customer Ops Representatives for different areas were lead RJ, Bernice, Gen, Cha and Aileen. Most of them resigned and some go back to Sales, yet they will always be a good friend.Image

In my 6 years, I have several chances to visit the corn fields in Luzon, Mindanao, Thailand and Indonesia. Most of the time, I join DKLC or Dekalb Learning Center…

I also enjoyed every Monsanto’s National Annual Conferences, aside from knowing the next FY strategies, directions and targets, this is also an opportunity for everyone to be together as one PH team to talk about business during the day and chill, relax, sing and dance at night till dawn.  Mophil peeps knows how to work hard and party hard!

I’m also grateful because my job in Monsanto, gave me a  chance to travel in and out of the country, I see to it that every business travel would be fun. So I really tried to squeeze in some time to go around and enjoy the place. Either I go out at night or extend my stay with my colleagues.

I’m so blessed to be part of Monsanto family, Monsanto is a great company. I thank God the opportunity to work here and to work with this bunch of professionals. For some work is just work, but as for me, here I also found good friends, whom I can share my stress, my rants and even my life. Endless chat, joke and rants over a cup of frappucino or dinner at Westgate, ATC and Molito. These are my some of my closest friends met in this journey.

Lastly, more than my rewarding job and amazing colleagues, I also thank God that He bring me to this kind of industry where we can help farmers to improve their lives. Everytime I see farmers, excited for our product breakthroughs, because of higher yield (which means higher income for them), I see hope in their eyes, hope not just for themselves but hope for their families too!

Go, Fight!

I am still overwhelmed with my decision to accept a job offer from a new company and to resign from my current work. It is a mixed emotions, i’m overjoyed and excited, yet i’m sad and scared. Overjoyed because, God has proven Himself again to me, that He can do amazing things for me, He can give “beyond normal” blessings. Excited, because it’s a new beginnings, new role and responsibilities, new learning, new people to work with and new office. I’m sad because I’ll definitely miss my friends… Scared, because I don’t know how things will work, but somehow I am confident that this is a gift from God, God called me here and for sure this is gonna be so big and great!

The only truth that gives me the confidence that i made the right decision is God’s word to me during  prayer and fasting 2013, that “He will bring me out of my comfort zone, because out of my comfort zone, there is greater, joy, peace, blessings and favor. Out of my comfort zone I can bring glory and honor to God even more!” I should go because I’m holding on to God’s promise “The battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15). Because whenever there’s a new battles that I need to fight, this is the time when I completely trust God, because I know my strength and abilities is not enough. I can only be sure of winning the battle if I let God fight for me!

I remember David’s fight… When God calls him to fight the giant Goliath, people around him, even his own family looked down on him. But He don’t care much about what people say, he don’t hesitate to fight. Because David knows that God is by his side. David is so sure that he will win the battle. Instead of David looking at the enemy, he look to God instead and he saw how BIG his God is and how small is Goliath. So in the end, David wins!

I don’t know what’s ahead of me, only God knows my future, Jesus knows what’s best for me and He will fight for me. Like David, I will focus my eyes on my BIG God, who can do amazing things for me!

My Room Away From Home

I’m blessed to have a job that gives me opportunity to travel. This year, since January, I’ve been always away from home for almost every week. Though I really love to travel (traveling always excites me), frequent trips is physically exhausting, tiring… You packed and unpacked, check-in your luggage, wake-up early and skip some meals. Not to mention that I drive myself to and from the airport. Thank God to Park n Fly.

One of the perks of business travel is to stay in a nice hotel. You deserve it anyway, after a long tiring field work or meeting, all you want to do next is to get a decent sleep. I thought of sharing my rooms away from my room at home for the past two months of business trips! I love my job!

A Letter to Self….

Dear 21 year old Jenice Joy,

It’s just 6 months ago when you finally graduated from college at PUP Taguig. And you continue working with TIPS… I know how excited you are for the next season of your life; you have so many plans in mind. You just listed your short and long-term plans. Those consist with things you want to buy for yourself and your family, mostly the ones that you’re deprived of when you’re young, goals you want to achieve and the path you want to take. You’re very optimistic, passionate and determined to fulfill your dreams.

You’re in the right track girl! I encourage you to never stop hoping and dreaming, no matter what happened don’t Imagestop! Few months from now, you will experience a great pain, a pain of loosing a loved one. Your friend, your number one fan, your encourager, the best “tatay” in the world. He will have his last breath with you, right in your arms. As if he was telling you that he wants you to be in-charge for the family, for nanay and Jell. Because of this lost, this pain will make you strong, so strong that you’ll be independent from others but so much dependent from God! God will be your dad! He will be your greatest source of strength, grace, wisdom and comfort. You’ll run to Him when you’re down, you’ll cry to Him when you’re hurt. You will seek comfort from Him when you’re tired and weary. From then on, you’ll be the family’s breadwinner, you’ll replace tatay and you’ll be strong for nanay and Jell. And guess what? You can do it! Amazingly, God will work in your behalf!

Then get ready! God will open doors of opportunities for you. I know you just want to work and remain as an ordinary employee. But God has greater plans for your career. He will call you to do things you cannot do on your own. Each decision requires faith, so increase your faith and trust God more! He knows what’s best for you. Soon you’ll be leaving your job in this small non-profit organization. You’ll start working with multinational companies; your background in IT will be your advantage. You’ll meet different type of people from all walks of life.  Your work will bring you to different places, around Philippines and Asia and soon around the world. You’ll enjoy your job, you’ll have fun at work but for sometime you’ll reach your comfort zone and start to get bore. When this happens, you’ll start praying & looking for more challenging job opportunities. Jenice, you can love your job, in this way you’ll excel, but don’t love your company, because you’ll never know when company stops loving you. Just be excellent at work, honor God by doing more than what is expected from you and for sure God will reward each good work you’ve done. By the way, you’ll also pursue graduate school at your dream university, this one is not in your plan, but God made it possible for you, this is part of His bigger plans.

Remember, you cannot please everyone and you don’t have to! So just do something that you know is right and pleases God. That’s your purpose, you exist to honor God.

Now let’s talk about love… I know you’re so in love right now and you think he is the one for you. I just want to remind you that you should also honor God in your relationship. Jenice, enjoy this season of singleness, you only have 10 – 15 years to do so, the rest of your life you’ll spend it with a partner and with your kids. Don’t allow your world to revolve only with that man. There’s a beautiful world out there waiting for you. You have your God, family, friends and career opportunities. Savor every moment with them too! Don’t settle for less than you deserve dear. You’re a princess, you’re valuable and you deserve more than this. You should be pursue and not the other way around. I know you’re independent but you should allow yourself to be pursued! Don’t focus too much on your romantic relationship so that when its time to let go, it will be less painful for you. Don’t worry, God will replace him with the one who’s best for you, just wait, God is writing your love story. A love story with a happy ending!

On finances… Be a good steward! Tithe and Give! I know you want all these stuff – bags, clothes, shoes, gadgets and travel. These are not bad things, you can have it, but I encourage you save and invest first and make your money work for you first before buying this. Sacrifice now so you can enjoy your future. With this principle you can save yourself from debt, money rat trap and poor money mindset. Start thinking like rich people and you’ll find yourself as rich as them! Again, don’t eat everything from your harvest, save some seeds for sowing so that it will multiply. Remember, we are called to be rich not just to satisfy our selfish desires but to be a blessing to other people.

Lastly, keep that desire in your heart to know God more. Be independent from others but be totally dependent from God. Without God you can’t do anything. Trust God wholeheartedly. Trust Him only. Life is not about you, it is about Him. Always honor God and share His love to everyone. Shine and be a blessing!
